Abstract

A procedure for adventitious shoot regeneration using hypocotyls explants of Momordica dioica has been developed. When MS medium was supplemented with 1.5 mg/1 BA and 0.1 NAA, 88% of hypocotyls explants regenerated shoots with an average number of 8.8 shoots per explant. The mean number of shoots was significantly reduced when sucrose concentration in the medium was less than 3%. Regenerated shoots were rooted on half-strength MS medium containing 1.0 mg/1 IBA. In vitro raised plantlets were transplanted to soil and are being evaluated for various agronomic traits.
