Key words: In vitro propagation, Meristem tip culture, Amritsagar

Abstract

Rapid clonal propagation of Amritsagar (Genome AAA) banana was done through meristem tip culture. Shoot proliferations were observed on MS medium supplemented with BAP. At 30 M/1 BAP shoot regeneration was highest but stunted in growth. But at 25 BAP, a good number of healthy shoots were produced. The shoots started to initiate roots within 3-4 days of incubation in rooting media. The shoots developed a large number (7.1) of longest roots (4.2 cm) on MS medium successfully transferred in polybags and finally were well established in the field.
